SHOW NOTES

🎙Welcome to The Applicant Podcast. I’m your host, Rebecca Tripp. I’ve graduated from five (5) post-secondary school programs (attending both university and college), I own my own law office now and no, I’m not a lawyer. I’m a licensed paralegal and immigration consultant and on this YouTube channel/podcast, I want to discuss education, immigration, and the law. 🇨🇦

In this weeks episode I speak with CEO of Flex Legal Network Inc., Erin Cowling. Erin started freelancing in 2013, founded Flex Legal in 2015, and now services law firms across Canada with her roster of legal professionals. We discuss the path that lead her to becoming a freelancing lawyer, red flags to look out for as a freelancer, along with what she would change in the legal industry if she had the power to do so. If you are interested in becoming a freelancer or want to learn more about the CEO of Flex Legal, this episode is for you!

I wrote my paralegal licensing exam on August 1st, 2017 (almost 5 years ago today). Since then I have legal industry work experience in “big” law at a Toronto office, in-house as Lead of Legal, freelancing for lawyers, and running my own sole proprietorship providing immigration representation. In this solo episode, I discuss my experiences in each role and my advice for those new to the legal industry or looking for a change in their career. Let me know if you have any questions, and please DM me topics you’d like me to further discuss in future episodes!
